FJWU holds ‘Qirat’, Na’at, Short Film, Documentary, Horticulture and Photography competitions under Punjab Youth Festival

Rawalpindi Fatima Jinnah Women University arranged different competitions including ‘Qirat’, Na’at, Short Film, Documentary, Horticulture and Photography under Punjab Youth Festival 2014 on Friday. The theme of all the competition was ‘Hope and promoting peace in the country’.

Fatima Jinnah Women University, (FJWU), Pir Mehr Ali Shah Agricultural University (PMAS-AAUR), and University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila (UET) participated in Qirat and Na’at competition. In the beginning participants briefed about rules and regulations of the competitions. Ms. Yasmeen, Associate Professor Margalla College Islamabad and Sarah Akhter Hashmi, Lecturer Communication and Media Studies Department were the judges of the competition.

In ‘Qirat’ competition Maidha Zafar and Faryal Kausar of FJWU won first and second position respectively whereas Asma Azam of PMAS-AAUR secured third position whereas in ‘Na’at’ competition Raiha Batool of UET bagged first position, Faiza Faayaz of FJWU secured second position whereas Sana Noor of PMAS-AAUR stood third.

Teams from PMAS-AAUR and FJWU participated in Horticulture competitions held in two different categories: Dry and Fresh flowers. In Dry Flower arrangement PMAS-AAUR secured first position whereas in Fresh Flower arrangement FJWU won first position. Judges of the competition were Ms. Shazia Hashmat, Assistant Professor Communication and Media Studies Department and Ms. Asma Akhtar. Only host university participated in photography and short film and documentary competition. As they has become a powerful means of communication and a mode of visual expression that touches human life in many ways.

FJWU Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr. Samina Amin Qadir along with Senator Razina Alam Khan awarded shields and certificates to the winners of competitions. She said that institutions are reflection of society. She said that youth festival was a good platform for the student to show their hidden abilities and talents. She also lauded the efforts of university administration for arranging the events in a beautiful way.

In Naat competition, Raihla Batool of UET took first position, Faiza Fayyaz of FJWU secured second position whereas Sana Noor of Arid University stood third.

Teams from Arid University and FJWU participated in horticulture competitions held in two different categories: Dry and Fresh Flower.

In dry flower arrangement Arid University secured first position whereas in fresh flower arrangement FJWU won first position.

Only host university students participated in photography and short film and documentary competition.

Senator Razina Alam Khan and FJWU Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr. Samina Amin Qadir awarded shields and certificates to the winners. She said that youth festival provided a good platform to the student to show their abilities and talents. She also lauded the efforts of university administration for arranging the events.
