KARACHI: Special monitoring teams of the Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA) on Friday raided many blood banks across the city and sealed four of them for various irregularities, officials said.
“We inspected several facilities in four districts of Karachi and sealed four of them,” said SBTA secretary Dr Zahid Hasan Ansari.
He said the officials sealed Taj Voluntary Blood Bank near Korangi Crossing, where conditions were unhygienic, for not having a pathologist and running on a commercial basis.
He said Mother Care blood bank in Manzoor Colony and Life Care in Mehmoodabad were also sealed. The teams also raided Al Faisal Blood Bank in Federal B Area where they found filthy vials and a germ-infested environment, he added.
