Government College University (GCU) team wins songs competition Mili Naghme Singing Competition,

LAHORE: A Government College University (GCU) team on Tuesday won the Mili Naghme Singing Competition, held at the university’s Bokhari Auditorium under the auspices of Punjab Youth Festival.
GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleequr Rahman was chief guest of the opening ceremony of the competition, which was adjudicated by eminent singer Ustad Hamid Ali Khan, Abdur Rauf and Saleem Bazmi.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof Rahman encouraged the students to participate in the extracurricular activities. He said that patriotic songs are beautiful form of music and they trigger patriotism in people. He said that such songs remind people of their history and make them eulogise their historic struggle.
Ustad Hamid Ali Khan said that singers are cultural ambassadors of a country. He praised the GCU’s contribution in the development of music and said this university has produced a lot of legendary singers and musicians, including Khawaja Khurshid Anwar, Shakoor Baidil, Amjad Pervaiz, Tariq Farani, Sharaft Ali Khan, Waris Baig, Jawad Ahmad, Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan, Rustam Fateh Ali Khan, Hadiqa Kiani and Ali Zafar.
