Lecture on bio- chemical sciences collaboration with University of Agriculture, Faisalabad

KHAIRPUR (PPI): Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, organized an online lecture for the departments of Botany, Zoology, Microbiology and Chemistry in collaboration with University of Agriculture, Faisalabad on Monday. The organizer of this online lecture was Prof Dr Abdul Razzaque Mahar, Chairman, Department of Botany & Director QEC. The two lectures on the topics Phytochrome and Control of Flowering were conducted at the Video Conference Hall of the University. Prof Dr Abdul Wahid, Chairman, Department of Botany, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad delivered the lectures. Dr Wahid said that Phytochrome is a photoreceptor, a pigment that plants use to detect light. It is sensitive to light in the red and far-red region of the visible spectrum. Many flowering plants use it to regulate the time of flowering based on the length of day and night and to set

circadian rhythms.
