LAKKI MARWAT: The wildlife department arranged a one day training workshop for its employees on global positioning system at the crane conservation centre on Monday. Officials from Bannu and Kohat divisions participated in the training. Wildlife GIS expert Fareedullah Khan imparted training to the participants on use of GPS device in carrying out their professional activities. DFO Bannu Abdul Halim Khan, DFO Dera Ismail Khan Khan Malook and SDFO Lakki Abdul Rehman were also present.
“The objective of the training is to enhance and improve the skills of participants in using GPS and GIS with specific perspective to conserve wildlife and their habitats,” said the expert. He shed light on the techniques of data generation, data management, and data analysis and said that the use of new technology would be helpful to promote and conserve wildlife. He said that global positioning system was the best tool for ensuring effective monitoring of wildlife conserving activities of field staff. Wildlife divisional forest officers Abdul Halim and Khan Malook said that the training on global positioning system was useful for the staffers of wildlife department as it would enhance their professional capacities. They said that the employees equipped with GPS facilities would be able to work for the promotion and conservation of wildlife in a better way.
