PESHAWAR: The three-day Khanpur Festival organised by Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) ended on Sunday at the Khanpur lake of the Haripur district in the Hazara division.
According to the organisers, a large number of locals as well as foreign tourists including Korean and Chinese along with families and children, attended the mega event.
Minister for Tourism, Sports, Archives, Museums and Youth Affairs, Mehmood Khan, visited the event on Saturday. Secretary for Tourism Hassan Khan was also there who announced that the TCKP would soon make ferry service in Khanpur operational.
TCKP Managing Director Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said the event was one of the biggest annual events of TCKP and the biggest fun-filled water sports activity of Pakistan.One of the visitors Asma Khan said she has been attending the Khanpur Festival regularly since 2008. She said there was something for everyone in this activity.
Another visitor Sheela said she never knew that Khanpur was famous for oranges and found out through this event when a special activity, Orange Fiesta, was organised.The singers, who took part in the three-day festival, were Khadija Haider, Rizwan Khan, Humayun Khan, Mustafa from Lahore, Maira from Lahore, Bakhtiar Khattak, Ajmal Khan, Munir Hazara and the pop sensational Fakhir. The three-day festival ended with fireworks that filled the sky with light.
