US Consul General in Karachi Michael Dodman committed to helping Pakistan succeed: Olson

Karachi

US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson said on Monday his country was committed to working with Pakistan to unlock the enormous potential of the Pakistani people to succeed in a country, a region and in a world in transition.

“Tonight’s event is an opportunity to celebrate not only US independence but also the relationship between our two great countries which has endured for over 60 years,” he said.

Olson was speaking at an event where he and US Consul General in Karachi Michael Dodman hosted hundreds of local dignitaries and business people at the consul general’s residence as part of the US National Day celebrations, according to a press release issued from the US consulate.

During the event’s formal programme, the US ambassador and Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad spoke on the past, present and future of US-Pakistan relations.

US diplomatic missions around the world hold annual celebrations to commemorate US independence.

These events are usually held near US Independence Day, which falls on July 4. The US Mission in Pakistan holds its National Day celebrations in February near the US Presidents’ Day holiday, which this year falls on February 17.
