USAID allocates $97m for municipal services by Local Government and Rural Development Department (LG&RDD) through ‘Project Management Unit

PESHAWAR: The USAID has allocated a sum of $97million for ‘Municipal Services Programme’ for Peshawar, Malakand and Dera Ismail Khan. According to an official handout, the programme is being implemented by Local Government and Rural Development Department (LG&RDD) through ‘Project Management Unit.

The scope of work includes procurement and installation of 16 new pumps in four union councils of Peshawar, cleaning of primary and secondary drains in 13 union councils of Town-I Peshawar, rehabilitation of primary and secondary drains in UC-9 and 10, solid waste management and procurement of machinery and vehicles, litter bins, 47 hand-carts, 269 containers, 19 garbage compactors,10 garbage compactors and a loader for 10 UCs of Peshawar, construction of public toilets at Bus Terminal at old Haji Camp and Jinnah Park Peshawar, repair of water supply network in 21 UCs of Peshawar. These works will be completed by 2014- 2015.
