KARACHI: While an inter-ministerial committee has been in place with the mandate to allow the use of mobile phone jammers for national security, it has been observed that jail authorities in all the provinces are not following the procedure and have installed jammers without obtaining an NOC, it emerged on Tuesday.
The move was causing severe interferences and degradation in the quality of service in the vicinity around the jails.
The inter-ministerial committee comprised the ministries of interior, defence, information technology, national security agencies and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.
