Pakistan helps open handloom textile training project ‘textile village’ in Sri Lanka Pakistan’s High Commissioner

SLAMABAD: Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Sri Lanka retired Maj Gen Qasim Qureshi and Sri Lankan Minister for Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa have inaugurated the Pakistan-sponsored handloom textile training project and the ‘textile village’ at Kottala-Meerigama in Sri Lanka.


According to a message received here on Tuesday, the project envisages training of 75 individuals along with donation of handlooms, hand winders, accessories and raw material to the selected handloom operators.


In addition to the main beneficiaries, hundreds of people will gain employment due to revival of the cottage industry.
