FAISALABAD: Nageen Farooq won the female cycle race event organised in connection with the Family Fun Day and Sports Gala at the University of Agriculture here on Thursday.
Former Indian election commissioner and Rajya Sabha member Mahonar Singh Gill inaugurated the event attended by a large number of students and faculty.
Mehrun Nisa and Maha Siddique got the second and third positions, respectively.
The fun day was organised by the Institute of Rural Home Economics and sports gala by the Agrarian Society.
Fifty students participated in the cycling competition arranged with an aim to promoting cycling among women to overcome their dependency on transportation. Besides, stalls of the handmade products and handicrafts were also part of the event.
QUACKS: Cases under Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code (attempt to commit intentional murder) will be registered against quacks who are playing with public lives.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, District Coordination Officer Noorul Ameen Mengal said strict action was needed to get rid of quacks and that’s why the district administration would get them fixed under the PPC.
He said 120 cases had been sent to police for registration of cases against the quacks under Section 324 of the PPC and premises of such people had also been sealed. The DCO said the district government would organise Lyallpur Car Mela at the People’s Colony D Ground on April 6.
MPA Malik Mohammad Nawaz, who was also present on the occasion, said the car exhibition would provide entertainment to the masses.Talking about the FDA City project, the DCO said Rs150 million had been released for sweet water supply while Rs100 million had been paid to the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company for the provision of electricity.
He said some matters of the FDA City were under investigation.
