KARACHI (APP): The Jamil-ur-Rahman Centre for Genomics Research, set up with the personal donation of Prof. Atta-ur-Rehman, former federal minister for Science and Technology, has been formally opened on Tuesday. Named after his father, late Jamil-ur-Rahman, the Centre is located in the premises of the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences at the University of Karachi (KU). According to a statement of KU, the donation was announced by Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman when he received the Engro Excellence Award of Rs 5 million on 14th January 2011. He donated the award money as well as his own savings for the construction of the centre.
