Mandi Bahauddin: A function was held at Sanat Zar to mark International Women Day. DCO Imtiaz Niazi was the chief guest and the function was attended by a large number of women of the area, DOC Afzaal Warriach, DOCO Zafar Gondal, DO Social Welfare Shafqat Butt, DO Information Bashir Zaidi, DDO Atif Warriach, Hafiz Anwar, Sabia Khanam, Safia Malik and representatives from local NGOs. In his address the chief guest highlighted the performance of women in building a nation. He said our religion Islam had clearly defined rights of the women and the present government was striving hard to empower them. The government had allocated 15% job quota to women in every government and semi government department and working women hostels at district level were being constructed. He viewed that women in every field were leading by virtue of their sense of duty and hard work. He said it was the first time that the incumbent government had opened women development department in provincial secretariat with an objective to promote welfare of women. Now women were even joining armed forces and flying fighting aircrafts. They were leading in education, leaving men behind. He went on to say that their contribution as mothers, sisters and wives were exemplary as they were builders of the future generation.
