Karachi The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) congratulated Minister of State for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar on Friday on announcing the promulgation of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) Ordinance 2014.
The ordinance dissolves the PMDC’s executive committee, including its president and vice president, to be replaced by a seven-member executive committee to run affairs of the regulatory body.
In a statement, the PMA said it was a well-known fact that for the past couple of years, affairs of the PMDC were being managed by a vested interest group involved in embezzlement, misappropriation, nepotism and mismanagement. They said the group was flouting the rules with impunity without paying any heed to the ongoing litigation against them across the country.
