Women’s Day means mocking the fair sex View point

ISLAMABAD: To be called the lesser half or the better half itself is a reflection of a mindset that reflects inequity. The very fact that we have to have an international woman day to reiterate and remind ourselves that woman are still unequal is another mocking concern.


Firstly, the talk should not be of inequality or uniformity with men but of not being treated fairly, not getting their fair share, not having the due opportunity, not being given the deserving status.


This year’s theme “Equality for women is progress for all” emphasises how gender equality, empowerment of women, women’s full enjoyment of human rights and the eradication of poverty are essential to economic and social development. It also stresses the vital role of women as agents of development.
