Karachi A week-long, comprehensive workshop on sexual development disorders, organised by the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation, concluded on Friday.
Experts stressed the need for early detection and the vital role parents and doctors must play. Sexual development problems are often passed off as rare conditions in Pakistan although, given the country’s present birth rate and population, it is estimated that a child is born with some form of related disorder each day, experts said.
In certain cases, these abnormalities can be associated with severe metabolic disorders and lead to life-threatening conditions in infancy. Sexual development disorders are complex issues that cause grave miseries for both patients and families, they added.
