CM says no society can progress without women participation
LAHORE A special session of the Punjab Assembly has been called on Saturday (today) to mark International Women’s Day and the Punjab government will table a bill, ‘The Punjab Fair Representation of Women Bill 2014’, in the assembly as a part of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s ‘Women Empowerment Package 2014’.
Chief Minister Sharif said that there was a need to resolve on International Women’s Day that every member of the society would discharge its religious, social and moral responsibilities in an efficient manner. He said that no society could progress without granting due rights to women. He said that Islam had also laid great stress on the rights of women. He said that the Punjab government had taken revolutionary measures for the protection of the rights of women and was providing them with equal opportunities of progress.
