MANDI BAHAUDDIN: DCO Imtiaz Niazi launched Spring Forestation Campaign by planting a sapling in the lawn of District Jinnah Public School on Friday. Besides students and teaching staff, DOC Afzal Warriach and District Forest Officer Tajammal Hussain Chugtai were present on the occasion. DCO said planting a sapling was not enough unless it was properly looked after till its full growth. He said forests is backbone of our economy as they provide wood for furniture, house building, and cooking food and above all create healthy environment, therefore every citizen should play his role by planting at least one tree each in this season. DFO highlighted forests importance in human life and urged students to create awareness among citizens about advantages of planting trees in their respective areas. He also asked students to plant trees in their houses and land for addressing shortage of forests in the country. Forest department had enough saplings to meet requirement of farmers, government departments and NGOs.
