Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) mulls artisan villages, small industrial estates at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI)

SIALKOT
Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) Managing Director Bilal Ahmed Butt has said that the PISC has planned establishment of “Artisan Villages” and small industrial estates spreading over 8 to 10 acres of land to facilitate and accommodate small businessmen.
He said that PSIC was striving to promote mutual trust between the business community and PISC with a sole aim to provide business-friendly atmosphere. He stated this while addressing a meeting of stakeholders held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here. SCCI President Dr Sarfraz Bashir and SVP Mian Muhammad Anwar were also present on the occasion.

The PISC MD added that the Punjab government would introduce a special development scheme worth Rs39 million for the promotion of business activities and boost small industries.
On the participants expressed grave concern over the inordinate delay in the colonization of the Sialkot EPZ, saying that the then leaders had selected a wrong location for establishing the EPZ. The participants were informed that the long distance between Sialkot city and the proposed EPZ was the major reason behind the inordinate delay in the colonization.
In his speech, the SCCI SVP said that incentives given at Sialkot EPZ were gradually withdrawn by the federal government. He claimed that the local business community actually wanted that the Sialkot EPZ project be denotified at earliest.
He said that if the government wanted to revive the projects, it should restore the incentives originally announced.
